We are born unique.  Our life experiences shape and change us.  In the face of difficult experiences we are shaped toward self-protection and limitation instead of growth and wholeness.  We may feel overwhelmed by our emotions or cut off and numb.  We become disconnected from our true selves and our relationships with others suffer.

I believe that our greatest resources lie within us.  In the presence of a therapist who is accepting, understanding, and emotionally present these resources become available to us.  We are able to face and work through difficult emotions and challenging relationships.  By deepening awareness of what we think, our underlying beliefs and assumptions, and making space for what we really feel, we access the resources of the core self.  Our emotions inform us rather than overwhelm us and the blocks to connecting at the deepest level with ourselves and others are removed.  We are able to open to new experiences and be shaped by these toward healing and wholeness.  We become more effective at taking action toward what we want.  By learning to work skillfully with our selves we become more competent in the world.  It is through the safety and support of the therapy relationship that we have the courage to make this journey.

"What lies behind us and what lies before us

are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."
